Specialized Oral Histories

For one of our projects, we transcribed a series of 40 interviews of elderly Jewish women, many of whom were of Eastern European immigrant background. Due to a unique resource of certain people on our staff with Jewish cultural backgrounds and language capabilities, including Yiddish familiarity, we were able to not only transcribe the conversations but also clarify terms that were foreign even to the oral historians.

We understand the Archivist's difficult duty to provide the best possible access to audio/visual content, while still preserving primary sources. We can provide conversion and restoration, as well as transcripts of archival sources such as reel-to-reel audio tapes. Transcripts of media content provide the essence of what researchers need.
